LA HORA LOCA
For those that aren't fluent in Spanish 'La Hora Loca' translates to 'The Crazy Hour.' HOLY GLOW STICKS OF LED DANCING AWESOMENESS you're gonna see why this Villa Farm York wedding is one of the single greatest moments at a wedding I've experienced since I picked up a camera over a decade ago.
I was over at Villa Farm York for an epic Venezuelan fusion of a wedding with the incredible Dan & Mariana. I began the day with Mari & her Bridesmaids while they got ready for the impending beautiful outdoor ceremony at one of my favourite York wedding venues. I have to say it was amazing being amidst Mariana, her sister & friends while they spoke in fast paced Castillan. Me & the videographer were literally spell bound as the emotion unfolded.
After getting ready it was outside for the wedding ceremony where Mari walked down the aisle to the waiting Dan. Hands met & a kiss lit up this pocket of Yorkshire to rapturous applause. Portraits, great food & awesome speeches provided the prelude to the setting sun where we took Mari & Dan for some 'oh so golden hour' portraits in the nearby woods. Of course the entire Villa Farm York wedding day was just a hors d'oeuvre to the feast of the evening. As night fell the magic truly began.
In a blackened room the music stopped & the badassery began. LED dancers signalled the beginning of La Hora Loca aka The Crazy Hour. Seeing these dancers was absolutely unreal. The photos might look awesome but genuinely it was one of those experiences you had to actually see to get the full impact. As they finished the lights lifted slightly & all manner of glow sticks, LED glasses & colourful paraphernalia was spread to guests. The dancing. OH MY GOD THE DANCING was easily the best I've ever seen at any wedding. The colourful collision of chaos was an absolute dream to photograph.
I got home just after midnight on what was actually my 36th Birthday. My incredible fiancé (YES THAT HAPPENED) Paige had stayed up until I got home to surprise me with a birthday cake, a trip away to Chester the next day & her cute bloody smile. Just the cherry on top of what was genuinely one of my most memorable weddings of my career.
