Aeroplane Wedding at the Motorist and Sherburn Aero Club | Emily and Josh
HARRY POTTER'S TROUSER WAND
Wellity wellity wellity... Just when I thought this job couldn't get any cooler I go & meet the incredible Emily & Josh. I think this set of photographs are some of my ALL TIME favourite i've ever taken. Not only were these two absolute beauties wonderfully quirky & game for the most badass of portraits all day long. But right in the middle of the wedding. The time when most couples have a little sit down & a few beers. These two decided to jump in an aeroplane at the unreal Sherburn Aero Club & take to the skies while I flew alongside them to take some photographs 😱 I'm just like Tom Cruise really. Only taller & less of a c*nt.
Before that good stuff let's rewind to the beginning of the day where I got to spend the morning with the beautiful Emily & those that matter most as she got ready in a stunning York apartment. From there we headed to York registry office where the waiting Josh, family & friends witnessed their I do's before we headed into York for some quick fire creative portraits in around museum gardens. One of my fav parts of this was when these beaut two got burritos delivered mid way through. My kinda humans! YES!
After that it was a mad dash to get to Sherburn Aero Club where we boarded two Piper PA28's after taking some quick portraits on the airfield. I'm not sure I've ever done anything at a wedding that has given me so many tingles as that half an hour flight above beautiful Yorkshire. Flying in formation & experiencing such an unreal moment in the skies was beyond words. It wasn't about getting the perfect shot of them through a window but about capturing the feeling of the moment. That adrenaline infused gravity defying momentum of flight that is so close in feeling to love. That light headed powerful head in the skies kinda love.
After landing with a huge smile on my face I couldn't resist asking the ground crew if I could take these guys into the hanger for a couple of portraits. Sheesh I was so kiddy as we explored not just the magical light but some of the coolest aeroplanes. A huge thank you to Adrian who let us climb aboard his beautiful blue Stag for some epic portraits. What a beauty.
From there we headed to the Motorist. A unique automotive venue that is renown for unreal cars & great food. Wowza there was some special cars kicking about this awesome wedding venue. When two Lamborghini's pulled up I couldn't resist getting these two downstairs for some shots. Incredible food & some beaut staff paved the way for some final romantic portraits with Josh & Emily's MX-5 before we headed inside for the first dance.
When people ask me if all I shoot is weddings? I say no I shoot products, landscapes, portraits, cityscapes, street photography, automotive & after this wedding I also shoot frickin aeroplanes. There is no photography job that brings the sheer variety of a wedding all whilst making love the focus.
A huge huge thank you to Emily & Josh for creating one of the most memorable days I've had in over a decade of doing this job. What an incredible love you guys have. I am truly honoured to have taken to the skies & brought those memories home.

SHEESH the last time I was at The Judge's Lodging was when I was a student nearly 20 YEARS back at a New Years party in the basement & the place looked a lot less Psychedelic this time around. Check out the UNREAL wedding of James & Dion!
