TALES OF A FIREFLY
I was back at one of my favourite Yorkshire wedding venues in the universe aka The Normans York with two of my favourite humans in the universe. None other than Jo & Andrew. Not only are these guys just beautiful people inside & out, But getting to spend the entire day in their company was like hanging out with old friends. Not to mention Archibald the Puggle aka my favourite dog on the planet.I was back at one of my favourite Yorkshire wedding venues in the universe aka The Normans York with two of my favourite humans in the universe. Not to mention Archibald the Puggle aka my favourite dog on the planet.
It all began with Jo & her Bridesmaids over in York City Centre where they got ready in a morning full of emotion & laughter. Probably the funniest bit was when the window cleaners caught a glimpse of 8 ladies nearly in their under crackers as their platform lowered to the window. Oops!
From their it was on in style curtesy of the amazing All Luv’Dub VW camper wedding hire to the Normans York. Where amidst the fairy lit barn, cascading fire flies brought Jo into Andy’s arms amidst those that matter most. The Norman’s is featured on my list of best Yorkshire wedding venues & jeez every time I photograph there I’m reminded why.
Music from my pal Michael Mulholland - Acoustic Wedding Singer led these guys out into the sun for drinks canapés & love in the eclectic Norman’s York grounds. Of course speaking of the grounds. I had to take Jo & Andy into those epic Norman’s barns for some portraits amidst machinery & farm land alike. But it was later on after speeches were made & drinks were toasted with the bridal party in tow that the magic truly began.
Finding those hidden spots within the beautiful landscape with these guys was an absolute pleasure & they put their all into making ideas a reality. Thank-you to them! Back in the Norman’s wedding barn it was time for the party to truly begin. With music from my new favourite DJ’s DeckHeadz it was tune after tune that filled the floor even before Jo & Andy made their first dance.
But when they did the crowds parted like the seas. Golden confetti flooded the air & in a long embrace the fairy lights guided them like fireflies to a setting sun.

“Wow!! Words cannot describe how amazing our photos at the Norman’s York are but a few emojis can 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼❤️😍 There has been so much praise from our family & friends; the phrase, ‘best wedding photos ever,’ has been banded about more times than Ryan told us he loved our dog (& that was a lot!!) I have to agree, they are, by far, the best wedding photos ever.
We knew we wanted something different, something that would capture our Norman’s wedding day naturally yet with a creative edge that we would never tire of looking at & Ryan delivered this and more. The way he captures emotion is unreal & his use of light is nothing short of genius.
Not only is he unbelievably talented but he is the nicest, funniest, coolest guy ever! Spending the day with Ryan was a pleasure from start to finish - it was like being with an old friend. He kept us laughing & relaxed & this is reflected in the images… They are truly wonderful. If you are looking for a Norman’s York wedding photographer like no other, you have found him. We really cannot thank you enough Ryan… You were most definitely one of the highlights of our day & we miss you already!! X”
