The Final Tetley Leeds Wedding | Greta and Sam
SO LONG THE TETLEY MY OLD FRIEND
A little while back I had the privilege of photographing the last ever wedding at The Tetley in Leeds. Unfortunately the Tetley as we know it is closing & will no longer be the incredible art space, kitchen & bar that I've come to love over the last 8 years of photographing weddings there. There was definitely mixed feelings when I set off that morning. It's funny really, I can't quite put my finger on what makes this venue so damn special to me. Perhaps because it's been there throughout my journey as a wedding photographer over the last decade.
The Tetley is a wedding venue that has always blended with my own aesthetic seamlessly. A Leeds wedding venue that I've witness love boom amidst cold concrete, hosted workshops in, got drunk in & created some of my favourite work in. A huge huge thank you to all the staff that have come & gone that have consistently made my experience there. You are already missed.
On the flip side what greater way than to take one last trip through those revolving doors than with two of the most incredible humans I ever laid my peepers on. Greta & Sam are the kind of people you just wanna spend your time with. They are magnetic in their magnificence & there was no couple I would rather create my final body of work with for this final Tetley Leeds wedding.
The day began in Greta's Bridesmaids house. Sheesh I had a right laugh with these guys on the wedding morning. It was made even more awesome when I got to feed a GUINEA PIG! YES! I won't talk about trying to get parked in Leeds. Let's just say it involved me moving traffic cones to drive down a closed road so I got to the venue in time despite setting off crazy early. HATE YOU LEEDS ROADS.
The ceremony by Helen aka Your Best Life Celebrant was beautifully put together & filled with all the tears that an emotional vulture like myself frickin loves. A huge shout out to Lily kerbey music too for her banging tunes. So great to meet you both! After the Tetley wedding ceremony it was outside for some portraits while the rain held off before I explored the exhibits with the amazing Sam & Greta in tow. Highlights definitely include the giant boob spider (Yes you heard that right) & getting all the bridal party to form a snuggle pile amidst the aliens while I dangled off the balcony like Michael Jackson's baby.
Back inside it was awesome food & beaut speeches before a couple of night time portraits amidst festoons & flood lights. Rather than a cake cutting these two beauties had a first pour of Tetley's cask beer before I "accidentally" started a "down it" chant & Greta absolute smashed the entire pint before Sam got halfway. Sorry Sam, yes I'm beer shaming you. A beaut first dance paved the way for a surprise entrance from the incredible New York Brass Band who lifted the roof off the place.
With that I said my goodbyes to my final wedding & the final wedding ever at the Tetley. I'm not gonna lie I had a little tear in my eye as I headed through the revolving doors one final time & said so long to one of my all time favourite wedding venues. Thank you for everything The Tetley. The spirit of this awesome place was most definitely in it's people & I can't wait to see what you all do next.
So long The Tetley my old friend. XO
