FOR SCOTLAND

Yes! This is the Scottish destination wedding I have dreamed about shooting for a while now after Face timing with the incredible Nicola & Stuart what seems like an age ago. This is Loch Ness.

I travelled up for this wedding in Scotland for 6 and a half hours in a terrible white VW Polo, With too many Haribo & little idea of what laid before me. After a beyond epic drive through the highlands I arrived at Loch Ness. What was before just photographs on a screen could not prepare me for the sheer enormous beauty contained beyond the mountains as the mists cleared.

After struggling with getting even a sat nav signal I managed to find the little road that led down to where the days events were to take place. Dappled light through trees passed overhead as thistles glistened in morning dew. As I went farther down hill emerging from the hidden landscape came Ness Castle Lodges. A true spectacle of dark wood & glass that sat by the river as though to welcome us after our journey. Of course the journey was just a part of this adventure.

After exploring & being met with the warmest of welcomes it was time for the wedding breakfast in a marquee river side. From there I journeyed once again to where at last Nicola & Stuart would say their I do’s. Urquhart Castle.

Once a monolith that framed the deep waters even in ruin gave an aura of grandeur. A floral arch by the waters edge was the site of all that was to come. In an arrival like no other Sandy McDonnell highland piper led the procession of those that matter most to Loch & landscape. He climbed the castles keep a mountain of a man as his song echoed across the land. & as the final note was struck hands were tied & words were said that bound a love for ever more.

It was right at Urquhart castles feet that we boarded a boat that would take us back to the Lodge for the rest of the days celebrations. Speeches were made as tears were shed. No Loch Ness monsters but instead the love of all on water. Back at the lodges it was portraits to perfect dance where confetti cannons lifted & an embrace was shared that would echo across Scotland. An echo that would remain for as long as Loch Ness was deep & the pipers song was heard by all that would listen.

Heres to these two. What a privilege. What a love.
