Lac De Montriond Wedding | Rachael and Sam
I WAS IN SET SIX FOR FRENCH
There's photographing your first wedding of the year & then there is this frickin doozy. Yep it's the start of the 2025 wedding season & I'm kicking it off in the French Alps with the unreal Rachael & Sam in quite possibly the most spectacularly beautiful wedding I've ever photographed at Lac De Montriond.
The wedding began with an epic stay at Le Petit Reve Lac Montriond, Honestly what a host & what a view. It took me about 7 sweeps to narrow my previews down to an acceptable amount, but even though theres no photos I can't recommend this place enough. Lac Montriond fully frozen over was just nothing short of epic & those mountain vistas gave me all the tingles in my special place.
After wine & cheese the previous night where I filled myself with all the dairy & fruits. I woke up to grab my camera & head over to Hotel Du Lac for some getting ready goodness. I tell ya what! we had such an awesome team to capture the day. Obviously yours truly being the highlight 😂 but I also had my incredible Mrs Paige seconding for me on the day. She got some blinders that made it into the previews YES! A huge shout out too to the amazing Ridgeline Studios who are full on Snowboarding videographers. I can barely stand up & take a photo so I don't know how these guys do it. I'm pretty sure they didn't know what had hit them when they met my large haired Yorkshire self double exposing peeps with post boxes instead of focusing on the French vistas.
After all the getting ready feels it was first look time with French Alps backdrops before we headed up to the slopes in a Gondola amidst all the skiers. In all the years of doing this job I have never felt like I did during those moments it was just so damn spesh. In fact editing the images last night made me cry real life tears. Partly because it was so epic & partly because I was actually really poorly on the day after getting sinusitis from the kids. I put everything I had into making these Ski slope wedding photos & they are some of my all time favourites I've ever made. The celebrating skiers, the snow plows, the mountains & the beautiful humans at the centre of it all. What a privilege.
After getting the ski lift back down it was back to the venue for the ceremony to commence, Honestly the wedding venue was just perfection. A community Hall in the Domaine du Baron set amidst the epic frozen Lac Montriond. The outdoor Lac de Montriond wedding ceremony framed by the mountains gave me all the feels as these two said their I do's. Back inside it was drinks & canapés before a few epic group shots & speeches that warmed this cold corner of the alps.
When the magnificent Rachael & Sam did their speeches they revealed an ice luge instead of a cake. NOW THAT'S MY KINDA CAKE! before going straight into their first dance epically interrupted by the Lederhosen laden epic Oomparty Band that legit lifted the roof of the place it was so damn fun. Moves were indeed busted before we headed outside for a sparkler shot that climaxed in frickin fireworks over the lake.
Holy moly what a whirlwind of a weekend as I sit here on my sofa with every bone in my body aching. This was a wedding that will forever be one of my highlights of my career. Huge love to Rachael & Sam for letting me be the one to bring my weird flavour of image making badassery to the snow Laden beauty of France.
