West Mill Wedding Venue | Lauren and Paul
WHO LEFT the WATER RUNNING?
I've wanted to photograph a wedding at The West Mill Wedding Venue in Derby for donkeys years. The mix of architectural awesomeness, original cotton spinning mill features & badass river views has made my shutter finger twitch with anticipation & was i disappointed. HELL TO THE NO!
Of course it had to be one of the rainiest days I think I've had in my umpteen years doing this job. Which meant portraits of awesomeness were confined within the many rooms of this magnificent building. But did that matter? ALL THE NOPES! In fact I'm not sure I could have picked a better venue than the West Mill to shoot at on this wettest of October Saturday's. Not to mention having two of the most badass humans to share it with in the shape of Lauren & Paul.
It all began with Paul & his groomsmen who were just a tiny bit hungover & what better way is there to cure said hangover than with A GIANT BLOODY CAMERA IN YOUR FACE. Yes! From there it was over to the West Mill wedding venue with Bride & Bridesmaids getting ready amidst this spectacular building. Right outside the room those that matter most gathered amidst the incredible ceremony room where they awaited their entrance of the beautiful Lauren.
After saying their I do's it was time for some epic portraits. Windows framed the bleak outdoors sending tendrils of light over cold concrete floors. But there was only warmth between these two as the darkness lifted with their embrace.
A special mention must go to how awesomely musical both Paul, his family & friends were too. With the groom himself, his dad & friend all putting on their own acoustic sets that had the room entranced. As chords sang out over cavernous it was food & speeches time. Love & laughter set the stage for the dance floor where the night had only just begun.
The rain outside poured over stone while the bulging river carved its way past. Yet inside there was only love, a love that ran deeper than water.
