A Leeds University Kimono Photoshoot | Stasia and Toshiya

KIMONO... MORE LIKE KIMOYES!

I'm sure most photographers will have these moments too. Those truly special portrait sessions where literally everything comes together to create a spectacle so unbelievably close to perfect that while shooting it nearly brings a tear to your eye. I find it truly incredible that over a decade on I still have those pockets of time during my job that make me feel that way.

The unbelievably talented Stasia & her partner Toshiya booked with me way way back when the dreaded lurgy stopped all flights from Japan. Fortunately a couple of years later we could make it happen. Stasia & Toshiya met at Leeds University so yesterday I got to explore the campus with these beautiful humans in incredible Kimono style. Not only did we managed to casually walk in during graduation day for many of the students there. But we even managed to take photos around the corridors, classrooms & canteen that these guys spent their university time.

Stasia & Toshiya were already in Japan so missed their graduation ceremony. How fitting & perfectly timed it was to revisit such a magical time for them. I can't say how honoured I am to have two people come back to Leeds only for me to take their photos. I was so humbled during the photoshoot at Stasia's words about my work that I'm surprised I could fit through the door with my giant head. While we are on the subject of Stasia I truly urge you all to go check out her work at InKimono. Not only is she an unbelievably talented Kimono stylist but her photography is legitimately beautiful.

Straight from Japan to my doorstep. I'm speechless with the sheer beauty you allowed me to capture.

A huge huge thank you to Stasia & Toshiya. XOXO
