FIVE YEARS
Jeez I have so much love for this family. Five years ago Jem actually won a free portrait session with yours truly & has booked one every single year since. It was pretty amusing when I realised mid family shoot at Yorkshire Sculpture park that I didn't really learn from my own marketing. I mean if that competition caused these guys to book me every single year since then it was probs a bit of a success & worth doing again 😂
This year though it's a little different. After hearing that the Jem & Alex had separated I thought that after four years it was finally gonna be the end of photographing their journey. But boy oh frickin boy was I wrong. You only have to take a quick look at these guy in their family photos around Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Not only are Jem & Alex coparents of the absolute century to their amazing boy Rufus, but are are still proper good mates. I guess my undue sadness upon realising these guys weren't together was entirely created by societies projected implications of "breaking up." (Deep. Real Deep)
Been with these guys over the last five years makes me proper emosh. I've actually photographed Rufus for every single year of his existence on this floating blue marble in space. I've got to see him change & become a real life tiny human with growing thoughts & feelings. I've been fortunate enough to see that essence of adventure grow to fill the heart & bones.
Jem, Alex & Rufus I may only see you once a year but you guys are like family. The most joyful, colourful frickin awesome humans I have ever had the fortune of spending time with.
