Lake District Maternity Photography | Jo and Rich
Who the HELL Let Me Do a MATERNITY SHOOT? ~ Part 2
When you think of the Lake District you think of idyllic countryside, jaw dropping landscapes & all those epic feels. What you don’t think of is a living room floor, a heap of fruit, an arsehole of a cat (Jo’s words not mine) & some next level weird double exposures. When Jo Greenfield first contacted me to do her maternity shoot jeez I knew right away we were gonna have an absolute laugh. At one point on Instagram Jo shared the hashtag #prayforryan as I apparently wasn’t ready for the weirdness to ensue. But I’m Shutter Go Click baby & weird is my middle frickin name. (Actually it’s Charles but sssssh)
Not long after a couple of people realised Jo had only booked me after seeing a maternity shoot I did a little while back where I had double exposed a cat inside the mum to be’s pregnant belly. The hashtag soon changed to #prayforjo & holy moly did they need to do that.
Firstly I have to say wow Jo & Rich's home was bloody beautiful. If someone said what would be your ideal house to photograph in I’m not sure it would be much different from theirs. Not only that but I can’t even begin to say how bloody magnificent these two humans were to be around in every way. Heavily pregnant Jo was literally game for anything & within about 20 minutes was laid on the floor with me on a ladder surrounded by all kinds of stuff I found around the house. All that with no pre planning of what we were going to take too haha. #prayforjo
After taking some badass bump pics we headed out into a nearby field to feed some cows with the biggest tongues I ever did see. Paige was so excited as a cow was pretty much the final animal she had left on her “must stroke” list & it was so moooving to see (Dad jokes)
From there we headed down the winding roads to the nearby coastline of Morecambe Bay & finally captured some of those epic landscapes this part of the world is known for. I mean the seas almost lake right?
& so ends the tale of the second maternity shoot I’ve ever done. Part two in the “Who the Hell let me do a maternity”series. Will there be a third? You decide...
A huge thank you to Jo & Rich for simply being some of the most awesome humans I’ve ever had the fortune of photographing. Jo is also a bloody amazing photographer in her own right. It blows my mind that I’ve had the privilege of taking pictures of so many other creatives this year.

I've been having an absolute BLAST making portraits at my home on the Lincolnshire Coast recently. Since I first visited Sandilands I was so excited to do a shoot there. The eclectic beach huts are right up my street & I have to say they didn't disappoint. LOOK AT THE COLOURS SWOON! Check out this epic maternity shoot on the beach YES!
