Sykes Barn Wedding | Becky and Rory
SATAN'S JAZZ CABBAGE & DRUNKEN FACE PLANTS
I couldn't frickin wait to get back to Sykes Barn over at the Sledmere Estate for this wedding. Also legitimately I think this was the craziest wedding party / reception I've ever actually bared witness to. 😂 Drunken face plants from the groom onto concrete, more smashed glasses than I've ever heard, a full on wedding guest stage invasion, Cocktail downing frenzies & the weirdest drunken Saxophonist I've ever bared witness to. Yes really. Â
Rewind all the way to the start though & I got to spend the morning with the absolutely magnificent humans Rory & Becky while these guys got ready amidst their pals. Well that's once I actually found them as their what 3 words instructions placed me about 4 streets away on both addresses haha. It's all good though because I managed to spot Rory's true love of his life. His beaut Land rover that he built himself when he was 15. FIFTEEN! Holy moly I was too busy smoking Satan's Jazz Cabbage & playing Playstation in me pants while this guy was building a frickin car. Legend.
After photographing both these mega babs we headed off to the unreal Sykes Barn on the Sledmere Estate & holy moly I forgot how drop dead gorgeous this Yorkshire wedding venue is. Even more so with all of those incredible details that Becky & Rory made manifest. A highlight definitely being the abundance of decorative fruits & a dart board. Luckily no one had to have said darts removed from said body at any point & the only needless prick in attendance hadn't brought his saxophone & arrived yet. Ba dum tss.
Amidst fairy lit warmth & hay bales aplenty these magnificent two shared all the love with a Sykes Barn wedding ceremony led by their good pal. A first kiss paved the way to a confetti shot IN A FRICKIN LAND ROVER! Not only did I adore the danger of being squished at work but sheesh it was pretty spectacular. Especially when I got to leap aboard right after to witness Rory's eye lid flapping driving where we took some portraits amidst the nearby gardens. A few magic groups when we got back led us to some incredible speeches that had everyone (me included) howling with laughter.
When they were done & dusted it was outside for a couple of blue hour portraits around the Sledmere Estate. As Rory & Becky willingly scaled some hay, I sneakily checked my liability insurance & prayed to the gods for their safe return. It was back inside where the party truly brought in the night. These guys booked me for extended evening coverage & wowza I'm so glad they did. Beautiful love filled chaos exploded across this pocket of Yorkshire so damn hard that I had to drive home in silence afterwards.
I tell you what though. What an unreal bunch of people in attendance so frickin filled with love for these two at the centre of it all. Becky & Rory brought me so much damn joy all day & I can't thank them enough for letting me photograph them both. Don't forget to check out all the photos. Especially the party ones.
Here's to the incredible Becky & Rory XO
