A Steam Train Wedding at Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway | Gareth and Ivo
🚂 I GOT PROPER STEAMING AT THIS WEDDING 🚂
This wedding will always have a special place in my heart. Primarily because it was my last one before heading off to the Isle of Skye to get married myself. Secondly because it was a wedding on a steam train & I got to blow the whistle. Yes I'm rewinding back to the incredible Gareth & Ivo's wedding at the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway
This magnificent two had two weddings. One in Spain because Ivo is Spanish himself & one right here in Yorkshire. Apparently their wedding in Spain was a on a boat & it rained the entire time. But right here in God's own country the sun was shining & I was all kinds of steaming. Because I was on a train not because I was inebriated. haha TRAIN PUN! Yes that's right Ivo & Gareth seem to bloody love getting hitched on different forms of transport. I'm eagerly awaiting the invitation to photograph their hovercraft or Space Shuttle weddings in the near future.
Just look at Bolton Abbey train station though. All the glorious signage, all the Wes Anderson feels. & when Ivo pulled up in a Steam Train to make his entrance I did an excited wee in my train spotting pants. The anorak wearing notepad holding kind, not the Danny Boyle heroine loving kind just to clarify. Speaking of Danny Boyle. There was a load of movie trucks parked up next door as they were filming some of 28 Years Later there. All filmed on an iPhone apparently. I asked if they wanted to borrow a camera instead & threw my pants at Cillian Murphy before I got asked to leave.
The ceremony in the Embsay Bolton Abbey ticket office was just so beaut. Especially Ivo & Gareth's gorgeous sausage dog ring bearer. Just check out that doggo smile in the register signing shot. Amazing. From there we headed onto the steam train for a trip down the tracks to the beautiful Embsay. We stopped for a bit while they moved the engine back to front & I met a sheep I nicknamed shagger. Shagger was a bit too close to the train so I was a little concerned but there were no lamb chops on this day. Only pretty little sandwiches.
In Embsay I fired off some beaut groups including some crazy ones I adore. The Spanish contingent really knew how to strike a pose. A big highlight was when we got the entire wedding party on top of Embsay Bridge & the train choo choo'd & covered everyone in steam. TONIGHT MATTHEW I'M GOING TO BE...
When we returned to Bolton Abbey it was off to Lothersdale Village Hall where i nailed a parallel park on the first try like a boss and witnessed cocktails & Tom Speight who is a singer & a good one. In fact Ivo is such a big fan of his he came out with his T shirt on (Still with bow tie might I add) & asked everyone to buy his merch. Holy shit I wish I'd have brought some key rings or beer matts or something I'd have been raking it in.
The first dance was beaut & Ivo & Gareth blew my socks off. They had me smiling with all the feels & as I left for the long drive home on this the final wedding before Paige finally put a ring on it.
Here's to Gareth & Ivo XO
