Holbeck Leeds Family Photography | An Hour in the Life of the Rileys
the LEGACY of PLACE
It's crazy to think it's nearly 7 years ago I had a miserable job & to escape the drudgery of my everyday existence. My lunchtimes consisted of wandering around Holbeck In Leeds with a camera in hand photographing all of the dilapidated urban beauty of the area. Holbeck has had somewhat of a regeneration as of late but it's still not lost any of it's charm.
When Natasha, Joe & Bear got in touch for a family shoot I just had to take these guys on a walk around one of my favourite places in Yorkshire. I have to say these guys absolutely rocked the bejeezus out of their session & spending time with these awesome humans was just like hanging out with old friends.
Kicking off at Northern Monk brewery before some badass alleyways under hissing trains. There's a lot to love about Holbeck & it's constant state of photogenic disrepair meets historical legacy. Even as I've been alive Leeds evolves as money is spent & lost on construction in different parts of the city. It breathes in & out with layers of historical architecture, fancy office blocks & city flats.
But it's in the hidden nooks & crackling paint where the money hasn't quite touched that I feel the most magic is present. There's something special about preserving not just family memories within these photographs but a legacy of change in place itself.
A huge thanks to Natasha, Joe & Bear. Who better to explore the city I love than with a family so frickin cool.

I've been having an absolute BLAST making portraits at my home on the Lincolnshire Coast recently. Since I first visited Sandilands I was so excited to do a shoot there. The eclectic beach huts are right up my street & I have to say they didn't disappoint. LOOK AT THE COLOURS SWOON! Check out this epic maternity shoot on the beach YES!
